PUBLICATION DESIGN:
TERRA
TERRA is a young-adult magazine that focuses on climate change and its direct threat to humanity. The publication provides up-to-date information about the climate crisis, and the world-wide affects of the rising temperature.

CREATING THE WORDMARK
When creating the wordmark I wanted to portray the mood through different typographical attributes. I experimented with condensing type and sharp ink traps to evoke words like punchy, unapologetic, and critical.

DEFINING THE LOOK MOODBOARDING
While defining the look of the publication, it was important that I kept my audience in mind, as well as maintain the same mood as the wordmark. I wanted to lean in to a DIY-feeling magazine, so that it felt more accessible to readers.

TYPE EXPLORATIONIn order to achieve the look I was going for, I knew I needed to be experimental with the type. Printing out the text allowed me the freedom to manipulate it in ways that wouldn’t be possible digitally.

SPREAD DEVELOPMENT &
ITERATION
With a wordmark developed and a style defined, the next thing to do was begin working on layouts for the publication spreads.
